Speaker and Topic
WebMatrix, HTML5, and You
If you do any web development at all, you’ve probably been hearing a lot lately about HTML5, and lots of claims about how it will revolutionize the web development world. In this talk, we’ll take a look at what technologies fall under the HTML5 umbrella, and which ones are really important. Along the way, we’ll also take a look at Microsoft WebMatrix, a lightweight and simple environment for building web pages and working with databases. Come find out how you can take advantage of these technologies to create rich interactive applications on the web.
G. Andrew Duthie, aka devhammer, is the Developer Evangelist for Microsoft’s Mid-Atlantic States district, where he provides support and education for developers working with the .net development platform. In addition to his work with Microsoft, Andrew is the author of several books on ASP.NET and web development, and has spoken at numerous industry conferences from VSLive! and ASP.NET Connections, to Microsoft’s Professional Developer Conference (PDC) and Tech-Ed. Andrew has been participating in the user group community since way back in 1997, when one of his co-workers dragged him out to the Internet Developers User Group in Tyson’s Corner, VA, and he’s been hooked ever since.
We will meet on the first floor of the White Palace. Social time and registration will be from 5:30 – 6:00 p.m. The buffet style dinner will begin at approximately 6:00 p.m. and the presentation will start after the meal.
