Message from the President

We are half way through February and it seems like the weather has taken a turn for the better (for now). There have been two great meetings this year and I want to thank The Seeing Hand Association and Verizon for sending speakers who did a fantastic job with their presentations.

I am really looking forward to the March meeting as we will have a chance to meet some of the students from the Wheeling Park High School AITP Student Club. On March 2, the students are having their regular monthly meeting and I am planning on attending. Chuck HIll has done a great job in getting the club running. It took well over year to get through all of the red tape with both AITP and WPHS. I am very appreciative of his efforts.

As I start my second go around as president of the Greater Wheeling Chapter, I can honestly say that I am much more aware of what it takes to be in this position. I am very grateful to have another chance to be president.

As has happened in the past, the bar has been raised by our past president, John Sterrett and those who came before him. The Chapter grew last year, not only in membership, program content, but by thinking outside the box by hosting the SQL Saturday, the joint meeting with OV Connect and volunteering for the Electronic Recycle event. Oh, I really can’t forget to mention our December meeting at the Good Mansion Wines! Dom Cerrone does a great job with his knowledge of the wine industry and is very entertaining.

An event that has grown in popularity is the June joint meeting with the Pittsburgh Chapter. This will be the fourth year, with the meeting being held in Washington,PA. There are some people who would like to see this as a twice a year meeting. Hmmmm, we shall see.

Region 18 is trying something a little different with a one day Spring Conference which is being held in the Akron area. I am certainly looking forward to that event. It is always great seeing people from around the Region.

We have some great meetings planned for the rest of the year and I am looking forward to see what else unfolds.
